Gen X vs Gen Y

好几个月前喝咖啡时已经戒糖戒奶了，只喝斋啡。今天心血来潮，点了一杯 Cappuccino ，偶尔宠一下自己，感觉不错。坐在忙碌的咖啡厅里，身边的人忙得转来转去，无论顾客员工都来去匆匆。我只是静静地坐着，脑子放空，在发呆。想起了前两天我和老板的对话 - 他有一间原本出租的屋子，正打算卖掉，问我要不要接手屋里的家俱。

"A very nice set of furnitures, barely two years old! "
He sounds like he has done me a big favour. Looking at his keen face, I chose my words carefully:
"You know, as a Gen Y, I have a very specific vision of how my home furniture will look like... "
He used a laugh to hide his disappointment and confusion.
"Haha, as a Gen X, people give free we just take."
And we both laughed to hide the awkwardness...
He then fished out his phone to show me some pictures of the furnitures.
"I have a very nice set of settee and dining table... "
I saw a set of PVC sofa in bright red, a glossy plastic-surfaced cabinet and a huge marble dining table. I shuddered, hoping my face didn't betray my thoughts.
"Thank you, but no thanks... "
I can survive in an apartment with bare minimum furnishing of my choice.
